Workplace Drug Use Assessment
FACT: 73% of drug users are employed
FACT: No level of employee is exempt
FACT: Work place use and trafficking cost US employers billions of dollars annually
Being able to provide a safe and drug-free environment in the workplace may be a challenge. Now with the aid of science a risk assessment can be made that detects the use or trafficking of illegal narcotics in your workplace.
A new service that is only available in the Hudson Valley through Quade Consulting and our affiliation with Global Detection & Reporting (GDR) is now available.
GDR offers a product line that utilizes the patented DrugWipe bio-sensor technology to detect invisible narcotic residues on surfaces such as phones, computers, loading docks, lockers, tools, vehicles, and other workplace surfaces. The information gathered by these assessments provides companies with the detailed data needed to clearly understand the patterns of illicit drug use within their organizations.
The DrugWipe is a non-invasive tool that detects drugs to the nanogram level and supplies legally defensible results. It is currently in use by the DEA, FBI, and US Customs and is part of the Office of National Drug Control Policy Technology Transfer program.
It is known that 73% of drug users are employed in American businesses today and they are costing employers billions of dollars annually in lost productivity, healthcare costs, workers’ compensation and risk.
An employee who uses drugs is more than three-and-half times more likely to be involved in a workplace accident and five times more likely to file a workers’ compensation claim.
Workplace violence and work-related motor vehicle accidents now account for more than 40 percent of workplace fatalities. Substance abuse is the third leading cause of workplace violence.
A Cornell University study (2000) found that employers experienced a 51% drop in injury rates when they identified the drug abusers among their employees.
Give us the opportunity to help you assess the risk in your workplace.
